Position Title: Bunkhouse Manager
Reports To: General Manager
Location: Ketchikan, AK
Employment Type: Full-Time, OT as needed
Position Summary
The Bunkhouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and administration of the bunkhouse facility. This role ensures that all residents have safe, clean, and well-maintained accommodations while maintaining accurate records, enforcing policies, and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and capable of managing people and property efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Facility Operations & Maintenance
- Oversee the cleanliness, upkeep, and overall condition of all bunkhouse units and common areas.
- Coordinate routine maintenance, repairs, and inspections with internal teams or external contractors.
- Ensure all safety, health, and sanitation standards are upheld.
- Monitor utilities, supply levels, and facility equipment, reporting issues promptly.
Resident Management
- Check residents in and out, assigning rooms and maintaining accurate occupancy records.
- Communicate bunkhouse rules, policies, and safety procedures.
- Respond to resident concerns, conflicts, or emergencies in a timely and professional manner.
- Enforce discipline and ensure respectful, safe living conditions.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain records including rosters, maintenance logs, incident reports, and supply inventories.
- Prepare and submit regular facility reports to management.
- Manage budgets related to bunkhouse supplies, cleaning materials, and minor repairs.
- Assist in developing and updating bunkhouse policies and procedures.
Health & Safety Compliance
- Conduct regular building walkthroughs and safety checks.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety regulations and company standards.
- Coordinate fire drills, emergency preparedness, and hazard reporting.
- Maintain first-aid supplies and ensure emergency equipment is accessible.
Qualifications
Required
- Proven experience in facility management, hospitality, camp management, or similar role.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to handle conflicts professionally.
- Basic computer proficiency (Excel, email, digital recordkeeping).
Preferred
- Prior experience in construction, oilfield, or remote-site housing.
- Knowledge of safety standards (OSHA or equivalent guidelines).
- Supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Bilingual Language (Spanish)
Working Conditions
- On-site role with potential on-call responsibilities.
- Requires walking, lifting light to moderate weights, and performing inspections.
- May involve working in remote or camp-style locations.

Physical Requirements
This position requires working in inside and/or outside environmental conditions, shipyard and/or remote locations, teams in opens spaces, heights above 6 feet, and/or alone in confined spaces. Tasks require repetitive sequences that include balancing, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger manipulation, grasping, feeling, seeing, hearing, speaking, an acute sense of smell and exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects and/or lift objects. Protective clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hats, safety shoes or boots (steel), and respiratory protection shall be worn accordingly.
